‘Pancake Party’ is success

Posted on December 10, 2011July 27, 2012 by Hoyeon Lee

On Dec. 8, Woodbridge High held a ‘Pancake Party’ from 7: 15 a.m. to 8 a.m. for students and staff to fundraise for senior class council. Class council members each wore Christmas hats and sold pancakes in the front of the school for 50 cents each.

“This was one of our major projects for this year,” senior class council president Kathy Cheng said. “We decided on pancakes, rather than hot chocolate or toast, because pancakes are easy to make and delicious.”

Over 100 students bought pancakes and class council sold out within thirty minutes of the starting time.

“I think more people bought these pancakes because there was Christmas music and the pancakes were shaped like hearts,” sophomore Regina Zeng said. “It made me feel very spirited so I ended up buying some extra for my friends.”

Students were not the only ones who enjoyed this early morning feast.

“I definitely recommend the chocolate pancakes,” assistant principal Belinda Averill said. “These pancakes made my day; they are so cheap and go along with my coffee.”

The proceeds will go to buy supply for the newly opened student store as well toward class council. Senior class council plans to purchase graduation supplies and stationary items for graduating students.

“The proceeds will go back to the students,” Cheng said. “Although we would like to buy some hot chocolate for ourselves right now, 100 percent of the money we made today will go toward graduation supplies for June.”

Other class council members say they hope to host a similar event to earn money toward their graduation.

“This is such a great idea,” junior class council member Krista Flores said. “We definitely want to host a similar ‘pancake party’ but we are going to make it better than the seniors’.”
