Valencia High School is known for its dominant soccer team, which defeated the majority of teams to earn the number 16 rank in all of California. However, the Valencia High School lacrosse team is a much different story, with its history filled with many more losses than wins. Despite the fact that the lacrosse team has been historically weak compared to other teams, they have set their goals for success, ultimately trying to win the championship.

The Valencia High School lacrosse team debuted the season with a 0-22 loss against Yorba Linda. With a disappointing start to the season, the players and coaches are in the process of improving the team, practicing harder than before to improve their record. The opening game exposed some of the weaknesses of the team, allowing coaches to identify what part of the game they had to improve on.

With this newly developed mindset, the lacrosse team is improving drastically. The results have shown their improvement as the team defeated Sergerstrom 8-1. With this victory, the lacrosse team is slowly building up confidence for the upcoming games.

Ahmad Saleh, a varsity member of the lacrosse team, said that, “We are working on passes and catches. Whenever we lose, our coach always says at least we tried. Everyday we practice 2 hours to improve our game.”

Each game is a new experience for many players on the lacrosse team, as many are new to lacrosse. Because of this, Valencia High School’s lacrosse team has a high ceiling cap, having the potential to win many future games. Although currently the team has an unimpressive record, they have the potential to grow and develop to become a more formidable unit.
