With technology advancing at a rapid rate, our everyday lives have adapted to implement many new innovations. In response to this, many schools have been able to use technology to their full advantage, such as using Chromebooks and tablets on a daily basis. However, many schools are hesitant to add technology to their education system, claiming that it can cause more harm than good. Although they have all the right to believe so, it’s time to stop sticking to old-fashioned beliefs and instead adapt to modern day society.

Today, even the simplest of things are done on the computer or similar devices. For example, a simple hand-written letter is now replaced with e-mails and text messages. Additionally, technology is used everywhere within the workforce, regardless of what job one has. Because of this, it is crucial for students to learn more about technology in a learning-environment, starting with school. Essentially, the use of technology is inevitable, regardless of one’s background, culture, or beliefs.

Some schools believe that technology is overall distracting, and not beneficial.  However, if children are getting distracted by the use of technology, they are ultimately still learning the nooks and crannies of the technology. Additionally, technology in school is used mainly for educational purposes, such as internet research. With teachers around, students are monitored to ensure that they are using technology for productive purposes.

Technology has also had a somewhat negative reputation among parents, who associate it with distraction and failure for children. However, technology in schools should be viewed as a different and more modern way to approach education, not just some sort of distraction. In fact, it elevates conventional ways of studying to a new level, with the vast amounts of available information on the internet.

With the numerous educational benefits that technology can bring, schools should seriously consider implementing technology. Although some schools are reluctant to do this, it’s time to adapt to the needs of modern society.
