August 10th, 2017: the first day of class at West Ranch High School. As the new school year started, West Ranch Television (WRTV) began to work harder for this year’s shows. WRTV is the only program on campus that starts the first day of school with a live show and news segments. Even during the break, students were assigned to create films to share their passion and stories of others with the school.

Three days before the school started, WRTV opened up a workshop for students to create interesting segments, learn new techniques, and bond with crew members. Throughout the days of the workshop, producers shared the important factors of storytelling.

Every year, all schools from the nation gather to be judged by the Student Television Network (STN). Last year, WRTV won the best directing and producing awards and placed second in overall school shows. WRTV is generally well-known to other schools all over the United States for having the best broadcast segments.

Caylen Greenberg, a new student in WRTV, shared her excitement for this year: “I personally think that this is a great opportunity for me and for preparing my future career since I get to experience what it is like to put myself out there with professionals and people who share the same goal as me.”

Starting from the first day of school to the last day, students produce a show everyday.

This year WRTV aims to claim first place at *insert name of the convention* as well as help the students who are in the program to get a taste of a potential future career and meet new people to build relationships among people who have the same goals. This year’s STN convention will be held in April in Nashville, Tennessee. Every day, students run the show, make segments, and dream to achieve their goals as producers, directors, and broadcast journalists.
