A new club has formed this year at Centennial High School known as Model United Nations. This club aims to simulate the United Nations for students to learn more about diplomacy, international relations, and public speaking.

In an interview with JSR, Nathan Nguyen state, “I formed this club because it is something that I want to experience with my friends, who are also officers, as well as give other students the chance to experience what the United Nations is like.”

The club’s goal this year is to become a club that can sustain itself for the next few years and go to conferences throughout the year. Also, in a time when international relations seems to be a huge topic of debate, Model U.N. can help students understand foreign relations from a younger age.  They recently participated in the Centennial club rush in an effort to gain new members and advertise the club to students.

“Club rush was a success in that we got many students to sign up for our club. Hopefully they will be students who will be tolerant since we are a new club, but I think this year will be promising,” said Ryan Chou.

With over 150 different clubs at Centennial High School, it is often difficult for new clubs to find active members. However, with all of the advertisement and promotion of this club on campus, there are likely to be many willing to join this club.
