Technology has evolved over the course of many years. From cell phones to diagnostic equipment physicians use, the technology we have developed impacts our daily lives greatly. Many people look forward to more efficient and beneficial technology. For example, smartphones are a popular invention of technology. It has become a necessity for many people and influences us greatly throughout our daily lives. Currently, the foldable smartphone from Samsung is the center of attention in our society.

Many companies are working toward launching their foldable phones to the public but the Samsung Galaxy Fold is Samsung’s foldable phone that has been introduced on February 20th and the first of its kind. According to the Digital Trend, the “Samsung Galaxy Fold goes from a 4.6-inch display for phone mode and folds out to reveal a separate 7.3-inch display on the inside.” The phone is designed so it is comfortable to hold; it has a battery on each side so that a folding battery is not needed. The interior of the phone is so big that it can be used for three app multitasking. There are three cameras on the back which make up the main camera and a dual front camera which is at the top right of the Infinity Flex display.

Another foldable phone is the Huawei Mate X. This phone acts like an eight-inch tablet. When the device is folded, the tablet becomes two screens. The front is 6.6 inches while the back panel is 6.4 inches. There are no cameras in the front, all of them are in the back. Pocket-Lint says, “it folds on the outside, rather than housing a screen inside like the Samsung Fold, it’s a more elegant solution that’s more practical in any of its forms.”

The foldable phone that was announced in February brought mixed opinions to the public. Many people are excited about the upcoming foldable phone. There are many benefits to a foldable phone. The phone is very flexible and can be more convenient to carry around. The features are improved, for example, the camera and battery life, and more.

The foldable phone may be beneficial to the people, but the public says the cost is an important issue. Both the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Mate X cost around $2000. The idea of the phone is that it contains two devices in one which is more convenient. However, while many people are eager for these new phones, others have their doubts. Many people think foldable phones are costly and can be seen as heavy and bulky. Even though the phone has a larger screen, it may be difficult to use with different and complex designs.

These different opinions on the foldable phone may make people more reluctant to use the new device. The foldable phone may be convenient and beneficial but is much more costly and expensive. But, with technology trends growing and evolving everyday, it is hard to predict the popularity or even the sales trends of these new foldable smartphones.
