Endless Options at 626 Night Market

Posted on July 30, 2019 by Nicole Kim (South Pasadena HS)

Summer is full of fun activities and memorable experiences. People go to the beach, amusement parks, various countries, etc. The adventures during summer are endless. One super fun place to go during this school-free season is the 626 Night Market.

The 626 Night Market takes place for only four 3-day weekends a year during the summer months. It is the largest Asia-inspired night market in the United States and is located in the 626 area code region in Arcadia, California. For this year, the night market is taking place on July 5-7, July 12-14, August 9-11, and August 30- September 1. The 626 Night Market is a place for people to get together, eat good food, and socialize. With over 300 merchandise and food vendors, it is truly an exciting place to experience foods from all over the world and enjoy good music too.

During the hot summer days, all anyone wants is a refreshing drink or some sweet and creamy ice cream. At 626 Night Market, the opportunities are endless. There are so many food booths that provide the perfect cold treat, ranging from fruit sorbets and shaved ice to cotton candy-ice cream burritos and glowing jars of lemonade.

Debatably one of the most popular drink booths at 626 is Sunday Cafe. Sunday Cafe sells their fruity drinks in enormous baby bottles. People love this fun drink not only because it looks good in pictures, but because it also comes with free refills. Another popular booth is Ridges Churro Bar. They sell cups of ice cream with two churros sticking out of them. Some churros are covered in sprinkles, while others are covered in delicious and fun toppings such as fruity pebbles.

When the temperature finally drops a bit and dinner time rolls around, there are countless food vendors waiting to provide you with some amazing food. Hot chicken wings, BBQ skewers, lobster pasta, pho fries, shake ramen, takoyaki, and sushi burritos are just a few examples of the huge range of food at 626. One savory treat that no one can resist getting is the potato swirl. Potatoes are cut in a swirl shape, put on a stick, and dusted in flavors such as hot Cheetos, sour cream and onion, and barbeque.

Although the food options at 626 Night Market are amazing, there are also many merchandise vendors too. There are booths that sell henna tattoos, everlasting flowers, handmade jewelry, iron-on patches, Korean skincare and makeup, candles, bath bombs, and so much more. To top it all off, there are constant live performances by singers and dancers.

626 Night Market is a great opportunity to try new foods, hang out with friends, and overall just have a good time.
