Los Angeles County recently opened a library in Stevenson Ranch. Located in the attractive Valencia Marketplace, where other popular businesses such as Urbane Cafe and MOD Pizza are located, the library has many features that stand out.

With a 11,551 square feet area including a spacious meeting room, modern technological systems (computers, projectors, etc) and even a kitchen, the library is divided into areas for adults, teens, and children. Each area has several computers, desks, and tables for public use along with the appropriate books for the section. Finally, the library has three moderately-sized study rooms with projectors and whiteboard walls that can be used by individuals who wish to have an extremely quiet study environment.

The Stevenson Ranch Library has a great selection of materials. There are popular and recent novels, picture books for beginners, and preparation books to help students study for the SAT, AP exams, and other important tests. Besides books, the library carries a large selection of DVDs including action movies, educational videos, and more.

During an interview with JSR, Matt Gill, the head manager of the library, said, “I really enjoy working at this library. Everything around me is brand new, [such as] the computers, books, DVDs, checkout devices, study rooms… I can’t even name them all… I smile when I see people come to our library and use the facility to their advantage.”

The library has become an important resource for nearby residents to use, and many students also are excited about it.

Alfredo Aguero, a sophomore at West Ranch High School, told JSR, “I really like the new library because it is very close to my house, so I don’t need to drive all the way to the library in Newhall… I especially enjoy using the [study] rooms with my friends because the rooms are very soundproof and allow us to focus in private.”

Ethan Ivy, also a West Ranch sophomore, said, “The facility [of the library] is very nice, and I can use many of the useful utilities inside the library like the computers… I think the staff is also very nice.”

For students who need to research for a school project or study for an exam, the new Stevenson Ranch Library is the perfect place.
