ANNOUNCEMENTS

Whoops! We made a mistake with the worksheet this week.

Red Groups, if you opened the worksheet on Monday, you may have noticed that we left out the spaces for your name and your editors’ name. Thanks to a tip from student Jiyoung Song, we discovered the error and fixed it. Phew!

Yet, two students had already completed the worksheet before we fixed the error. And now, we don’t know who those students are.

So, if you were one of the students who completed the worksheet on Monday, please send us a message so that you can get credit for your work. To verify that it was really you, please tell us which three items (out of the five options) you chose.

WHAT’S HAPPENING

In his final budget, Mayor Villaraigosa advocates increased civic spending… Officials in Nevada are accused of “dumping” mentally ill patients in California and elsewhere… Bob Dole, former Senate Majority Leader and 1996 Republican nominee for the presidency, advocates compromise and interparty outreach in a new interview… GOP Senator and rumored White House hopeful Rand Paul has shifted his stance on drone strikes… Israeli officials claim that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons, crossing a previously-delineated “red line…” South Korean newspapers (including JoongAng Ilbo) are freaking out over Bill Gates’ casual manners when greeting President Park…

A new survey suggests that print journalism might not be the easiest road to happiness… A new documentary chronicles the work of activists aiming to clean up the LA River…  MTV has begun a 6-part series on the life of the ever-intriguing Ke$ha… George W. Bush’s Presidential Library is opening… NASA has shared a cool video showing what happens when you wring a wet wash cloth in space… Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong is trying his hands (and feet!) as a reggae drummer…
