The time for school concerts have begun and Crescenta Valley High School has started their concert season with the Ensemble Concert. On October 11th, the Crescenta Valley High School Ensemble Concert began at 7 o’clock. For the concert, students, without the help of teachers, put the concern on, including stage crew members and performers.
The student planned and led concert had 18 different pieces performed by different students. To students, this concert was also considered a test, and they had to come up with a theme to match their performances. For example, Anna Allen, Elaina Mariott, and Rachel Hart, as a trio performed the Harry Potter Medley and wore school uniforms of Gryffindor for their theme. Cole Davis, Martin Salazar, and Hannah Roth played Slavontic Dance, op. 72 no. 2 Spider Trio, mvt. 1,3, and 5 while wearing spider patches on their clothes.
In an interview with JSR, Ann Jun, a freshman at Crescenta Valley High School and performer, said that “Even though I messed up in a few parts, it felt really good to be on stage without any help from adults. I can’t wait until the next performance!”
Also, in this performance, Cole Davis and Lauren McEvoy played the song they arranged by student Grant Hillburn, Percussed, for the first time. Two of them played four different percussion instruments.
Upcoming concerts include the Instrumental Winter Concert on December 8th.
