As the month of October passed, many people unfortunately felt like this year’s Spooky Season went by too quickly. Usually, in October, there are a plethora of fun activities that many partake in, such as Trick-or-Treat, Halloween Horror nights, and costume parties. However, this year has been drastically different due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It is crucial for everyone to stay safe and quarantine despite the temptations that the holiday season can bring. The number of Covid-19 cases have risen quickly during these past few weeks, so staying extra safe should be taken seriously.
Thanksgiving is coming up despite the unfortunate conditions put in place due to the coronavirus. People usually meet up with family and friends for Thanksgiving to enjoy a big feast. However, this year, gatherings with big groups of people does not seem like too good of an idea. Instead of meeting physically, friends and family can meet through phone calls or Facetime, and deliver food while social distancing. This way, everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving together without risking the spread of the coronavirus. Avoiding human contact and not being able to physically meet people is truly stressful, but your safety and the safety of others is important. Thanksgiving is a time of expressing gratitude and thanks to those around you. The coronavirus might distract us from realizing how thankful we should be, so it might be helpful to spend some time thinking about what we are truly thankful for.
Christmas is another festive day that many look forward to. Usually, during this festive season, many people travel, visit their families, and eat delicious food. However, because of the coronavirus, it has become much more difficult to partake in these activities. In addition, college students are being told to stay at college campuses, which limits them from visiting their families back at home. Because of the pandemic, many are not able to enjoy the holiday season as lively as years before. However, there are many ways to enjoy Christmas without meeting family and friends in an outside setting. Cooking delicious foods and baking holiday treats can be a great way to spend the Christmas season. Making these tasty treats and delivering them to friends and family that live nearby, while socially distancing, can make the Holiday Season much more fun and enjoyable. Even though there are restrictions to socially interact, there are still many ways to interact online. Having a Christmas dinner through a video call can be a new and unique experience for all of us.
Despite these unfortunate conditions, I hope everyone spends a lively and festive Holiday Season. As 2020 safely comes to an end, we all should hope for the start of a better year.
