Many establishments and activities are reopening, now that over 52 percent of California‘s population has been properly vaccinated, and the number of instances of Covid-19 has decreased. One of the most anticipated events of the summer, the 626 Night Market, an annual food festival held in Arcadia, California, is reopening its doors. Last year, the 626 Night Market was canceled due to Coronavirus, which upset many people.However, it is currently open and everyone is welcome to eat delicious food and have fun. The event takes place during weekends during July through early September, and opens at 4pm and closes at 12 am. Tickets are sold online for $5 for presale and $7 the day of the event.
With up to 100,000 attendees per three-day weekend, the famous California festival features 250+ food options, merchandise, crafts, artists, games, live concerts, and entertainment attractions in one epic event that appeals to all ages. The food sold at 626 Night Market is not what you’d find in a restaurant; it is all very unique, cool, and occasionally bizarre. For example, vendors sold Pikachu macaroons, dog-shaped ice cream, juice that comes in a giant baby bottle, and even penis-shaped bread. Some vendors change depending on the weekend, so it‘s advisable to check their website for the daily schedule. Not only can you go to the night market to eat good food, but there are fun activities to do as well. Small business owners sell their unique goods, such as candles, handmade crocheted dolls, keychains, pins, patches, clothes, and more at a variety of booths. The Night Market also features an art walk, where it showcases a lot of small artists and their art.
After you’ve finished eating and shopping, you can visit the carnival area to play some fun games. One entertaining and uncommon game they have is a human claw machine, where you are hooked into a harness and carried around on top of a pit of stuffed animals where, exactly like a claw machine, you can pick up whatever toy you choose! And if you are worn out from all the walking? Sit back and enjoy a show that features a variety of performers, such as singers, dancers, and more! The lineups change every week, so there‘s always something new to look forward to.
Going to this night market with your friends or family is incredibly fun. I went with a friend and had a great time. The food was really amazing. It is recommended that you arrive early because the lines to enter the night market and to purchase food grew longer as time passed. This event is one-of-a-kind, and a great spot to visit over the summer, and I strongly encourage everyone to go!
