Wanna Organize Workspace?

Posted on October 21, 2020 by Elliot Jang

COVID-19 is a great time to get some studying in, especially if you are falling behind in your work. Something that is essential for studying is a clean, neat workspace. Having such a space can be hard to manage at first, but with practice, you can have a great clean area.

First, let’s look at how one can have an organized workspace. Tools that are especially helpful are pencil boxes and magazine holders. These are important because they allow you to organize objects that are just lying around. For example, you can use a magazine holder to hold textbooks, notebooks, and scratch paper. Pencil boxes can help hold pens, pencils, and erasers. If you remember which items go in which magazine holder/pencil box, you can find them much faster. Items that are too big can be put in chests in other rooms. For me, I am a big fan of Rubik’s cubes, so I have them in a chest nearby if I want to practice. Items like desk organizers are also immensely helpful. These are not too pricey and are efficient for storing items. Most of these come with small, drawer-like compartments that can hold pencils or post-its. You can also use plastic ties for computer wires.

Second, keep your workplace clean. Did you know that the average keyboard has around 2,561,580 germs? You can keep your keyboard clean with a simple trick: using a post-it. Put the sticky end in the gaps between the keyboard, and the post-it will pick up pieces of dust and hair. It can also be a good idea to use a Q-tip with a sanitizer on one end and rubbing it in the gaps between the keyboard.

Finally, let’s look at the myriad of benefits that you receive from having a clean workspace. One will know exactly where to find the things that are needed, and you can organize everything to your specific liking. For me, an added benefit is that I feel comfortable whenever I see things organized. Whenever I see a messy desk, I feel VERY uncomfortable. Whenever I see a clean workspace, however, I feel very relaxed. Having an organized workspace can also be beneficial because this can help you focus: nothing that distracts you is nearby, and is stored somewhere else. Removing such objects helps increase my productivity.

It is very easy to have a clean desk and there are many benefits to having one, too. Having a clean workspace can increase your productivity, and can decrease the time it takes to find objects. So, what are you waiting for? Start cleaning your desk today!
