People consider conspiracy theories and those who believe them to be a small sector of people in society with overactive imaginations or too much time on their hands. Those who believe in conspiracy theories are also lumped together with people who seemingly live in a separate universe and create fan fiction etc.
Conspiracy theories though are neither provable nor undeniable, but are still ridiculed by the public for their extreme or outlandish nature. Many examples of conspiracies are those that revolve around the existence and persistence of a group called the Illuminati, or different conspiracies about the events of 9/11. Furthermore, many believe in these conspiracy theories because they are not formed from factless ideas.
Many conspiracy theories are founded on certain points of factual information, and from that singular point, or if more exist, daring minds formulate connections where the unthinkable is possible. And, those who believe in such theories, don’t just do so blindly. They engage in much research on their own to see if what they believe align with the conspiracies that already exist.
Conspiracy theories are not only about major events in the news; they permeate almost every aspect of life, including current events, historical anomalies, and the entertainment industry. It is unclear how far or how deep a conspiracy theory can reach, but it is clear that many theories center on the idea of control, or the lack of it, under the public eye. Conspiracy theorists then work on bringing what they believe to be the “truth” to the world and enlightening people of it.
In the end, whether or not one chooses to believe in conspiracy theories, it is quite entertaining to hear the different conspiracies that do exist. The conspiracy theories make you wonder just a little bit more because they do indeed bring a fresh way of looking at certain people or events that have occurred. So, whatever the theory, whatever the belief, it is interesting to know that there are always many different angles that can be pursued. * This article was edited for publication purposes.
